Evergreen Project - Anticipated Completion December 2016

The Lincoln Station is rapidly coming to its completion. The building is receiving its finishing touches and should be completed soon. Over the next several months, testing and commissioning will begin to ensure all trackwork and systems are fine-tuned to receive trains. Trains will be seen passing into and through the station beginning this spring and throughout the “testing phase” of the project. A contract will also be awarded during Q2 to complete the area surrounding the station known as the Plaza. This work will include pedestrian and cycling lanes/areas, passenger pick-up and drop-off stalls, bus stop, seating areas, landscaping and public art. The overall Evergreen Project is progressing well and it is anticipated to begin passenger service by December 2016.

Multi-Use Pathway — Johnson Street from Guildford Way to Barnet Hwy

As part of Coquitlam’s capital budget, a new multi-use pathway will be constructed along the west side of Johnson Street, between Guildford Way and Barnet Highway. This project is part of the City’s crosstown cycling route, which traverses the City from David Avenue to North Road.

The scope of work includes the construction of a three metre wide asphalt pathway, new pathway lighting, new bike push buttons at all intersections and boulevard landscaping.

Construction is anticipated to begin in September with completion in December, weather dependent. The selected contractor will provide you with the actual construction start date prior to commencing work.

As part of the construction staging for the project, the contractor will be installing new lane markings along Johnson Street, between Guildford Way and Barnet Hwy. This work will take place over two nights, between the hours of 8:00pm and 6:00am. All other construction work will take place during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm. Traffic flow will be impacted during construction, and traffic delays are to be expected, but every effort will be made to minimize disruption.

Evergreen Line Track Work on Pinetree Way Between Lincoln Avenue and Guildford Way

As part of ongoing Evergreen Line construction, crews will be working on the guideway track on Pinetree Way between Lincoln Avenue and Guildford Way. In this next phase of work, crews will be anchoring steel railing to the guideway. Due to low temperatures required to anchor this rail, work will occur in the early morning. This work will begin in early July and will continue for approximately two months at two-day intervals as the work progresses along the track.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Anchoring work will occur intermittently from Monday to Friday between 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Ongoing construction will continue from Monday to Saturday between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Nearby residents can expect noise related to construction activities including drilling, welding, bolting and the use of heavy machinery.

Every effort is being made to minimize noise and disruptions when possible and to complete noisier activities later in the day.

We anticipate that the majority of the track work will occur during the daytime, however, if nighttime work is required, residents will be notified in advance. CONSTRUCTION AND TRAFFIC BULLETIN

Coquitlam
May 26, 2015

Temporary Closure of the South Passenger Pick-up and Drop-off Area
at the Coquitlam Central West Coast Express Station

As part of ongoing construction to restore the roadway at the Coquitlam Central West Coast Express station, the south passenger pick-up and drop-off area will be closed for approximately four weeks starting June 1. While this closure is in effect, drivers must temporarily use the north passenger pick-up and drop-off area (as shown on the graphic below).

This is the final stage in the road restoration work and crews will then restore access between the main parking lot and the south passenger pick-up and drop-off area.

What to Expect:
Starting on June 1, and continuing for approximately one month, crews will be restoring the south passenger pick-up and drop-off area to its original configuration. Transit users should be mindful that the majority of the construction activity will be underway daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include excavation, concrete pouring, material hauling and the use of heavy machinery. Some nighttime work may be required.

Pedestrians:
The pedestrian walkway to the west of the passenger pick-up and drop-off area will remain closed as part of the overall reconstruction of the roadway planned for this area. Pedestrians will continue to be detoured to the east (as shown on the graphic below).

Drivers and Passengers Access to the West Coast Express (WCE) station from Lougheed Highway will not be available during this phase of construction:.
Drivers picking-up and/or dropping off passengers at the Coquitlam Central Station Transit Exchange or West Coast Express station must use the north passenger pick-up and drop-off area (shown on the graphic on page two) while this closure is in effect. The north passenger pick-up and drop-off is accessible from Mariner Way.

For the safety of all workers, drivers and pedestrians, please follow the instructions of traffic control personnel and posted signs while construction is underway.

When the reconstruction of the roadway for the entire area is complete, the south passenger pick-up and drop-off area accessible from Lougheed Highway will re-open and the vehicle connection between the main parking lot and the south passenger pick-up and drop off area will be reinstated in July 2015. The pedestrian pathway to the west will also be reinstated. Drivers, transit and WCE users should watch for changeable message signs and directional signage that will include the date as to when the passenger pick-up and drop-off, roadway and pedestrian paths will re-open.
