Rebecca Tay checks in with 'The Beauty Beat'!

Now that the sun has decided to bless us with its presence (for a few days, anyway), there’s really no better time to talk beauty. So let’s get skip right to it.
First of all, I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, but the sun—it’s no good for ya. Sure, it is, for its Vitamin D and everything (but listen, that requires, like, 20 minutes of exposure a day), but the first thing everyone (and especially every girl, unless you like the idea of premature sunspots and saggy skin) should be doing is putting on some major sun protection. My sunscreens of choice are Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Daily Sunblock (which I drive across the border for) and Dermalogica Solar Defense Wipes (which I get at Spruce Bodylab, one of the best spas in Yaletown).

Of course, your lips need protecting too—and for that, I grab The Body Shop’s Vitamin E lip care stick, which has a subtle vanilla flavor and SPF 15.

For my beauty routine, I’m seriously loving NARS Cosmetics’ new Cap Ferrat eyeshadow trio (available at the Bay), which features three shades of blue inspired by the waters of, yep, you guessed it, Cap Ferrat in southeastern France. On days when I can’t be bothered to wear anything other than a coat of waterproof mascara, I swipe my lips with a coat of NARS’ pure matte lipstick in Carthage, a hot pink shade that goes great with a black and white bikini (also at the Bay).
