Summer’s Sweetest Scents? Catherine Dunwoody Shares Hers!

Your beauty routine downshifts into low-gear (read: lighter, fresher) during the hot summer months, and so should your fragrance. Swapped your foundation for a light, tinted moisturizer this month? Well done, lady. But wearing winter’s scent today quickly moves from intoxicating (worn in January) to nauseating (worn in June) so lighten up already, would ya? You know I say that with love….
I truly believe that summer and our sense of smell are intermingled – and the stuff memories are made of. In the 70’s my big sisters wore “Love’s Baby Soft”, in the ‘80’s I wore “Magie Noire”, and the ‘90’s? We all wore “Navy” – what else?
New scents to remember summer of ’11 by? Here are 3 worthy of a sniff:
• Calvin Klein Eternity Summer, at London Drugs, is a lovely floral – a light blend of violet leaves, gardenia and mimosa. So easy to wear, no ‘getting used to it’ stuff.

 • Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb La Vie En Rose, at Sephora, this is the summery version of the original fragrance. Notes? Tangerine, Tea and Lily of the Valley. Summer date bait.

• Clarins Eau des Jardins, at The Bay, is labeled a treatment water, which means you can lavish this light scent from head-to-toe. Fresh hits of citrus oils, and crushed leaves = perfect summer pick-me-up. Spray and sigh.

And just for kicks, look what I found at London Drugs – legendary Love’s Baby Soft – appears it’s still around.

‘Til next week my beauties!
