A Nutritious Family

We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and yes it is!  When we finish our last meal in the evening and then head off to sleep our body is fasting, which is why the first meal of the day is called “Breakfast” because you are breaking the fast. So we need to hydrate and fuel our bodies with a nutritious breakfast. Our little ones (and ourselves) need a healthy breakfast in the first hour after waking.  This will helps us get through the morning and will supply the body with the proper nutrients in which will give us energy. Some healthy breakfast ideas are fruit smoothies, cereal (check for the sugar content in all commercial cereals), Oatmeal (Try making your own oatmeal, instant oatmeal has lot’s of added sugar), fresh fruits on their own, toast with peanut butter, yogurt with granola and fruits, eggs. 
Did you know that once you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated! I make sure my little ones always have a sippy cup or water bottle full of fresh water at all times.  My daughter has a glass of apple juice (1/4 juice the rest water) in the mornings and only water for the rest of the day.  Our bodies need water to transport oxygen to our cells, removes waste, and also protects the joints and organs.
