Did you know that no shoes means no education for children in many countries around the world? Or that locally, a lack of proper footwear can stop a child from participating in activities or prevent someone from getting a new start in life.
From Saturday, April 13 to Sunday, May 12 Coquitlam Centre and Ruben's Shoes Society will be collecting gently used women's, men's and children's shoes to give a global child the opportunity for an education or a local family a new start.
The Donation Box will be located on Level 2, by Aritzia.
About Ruben's Shoes Society
Ruben’s Shoes Society believes that all children deserve an education.
The Ruben's Shoes story was inspired by a boy named Ruben living in the Dominican Republic. When Founder Kelly met and spent the day with Ruben, the boy she had been sponsoring for 7 years, her life was profoundly changed when she learned that children around the world are not able to go to school if they don’t have shoes. For many poor families, shoes are a luxury they simply cannot afford. Kelly knew this was a barrier she could help break down and started a small passion project called Ruben’s Shoes.
Ruben's Shoes give a pair of shoes a second life which gives children in need a chance at a new beginning. Imagine if your shoes could give a child an education, imagine how that education could change the future for that child?
Ruben's Shoes MISSION is to deliver access to education to the millions of children around the world living without it and their VISION is to empower the next generation of leaders, both locally and globally, to put an end to extreme poverty once and for all!
GIVE SHOES. GIVE EDUCATION. GIVE OPPORTUNITY. GIVE CHANGE.
