They have threaded backs to hold them in place in your ear. This grade of steel is hypoallergenic because it goes through a low carbon vacuum melting process. This process sucks out the nickel from the metal. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. Please note: this process cannot remove all the nickel and a very small amount of people have reactions to 316LVM surgical steel. These surgical steel plugs come in 2g - 5/8 of an inch. Please check the gauge to ensure they will fit your piercing.
