They have threaded backs to hold them in place in your ear. These machine head plugs are and antique brass. This grade of steel is hypoallergenic because it is low carbon vacuum melted. This process basically sucks out the nickel from the metal. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. Please note: this process cannot remove all the nickel. As a result, a very small amount of people react to 316LVM surgical steel. Additionally, the filigree front is brass. Brass can irritate metal allergies.
