Planting: • These bulbs can be grown in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained and fertile.• Break the garlic head into cloves before planting.• Plant them with the pointy end up about 5 cm (2 in) deep and 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 in) apart.• Water thoroughly after planting.Growing: • Weed regularly when plants start growing.• Water as needed during active growth periods, but allow the soil to become dry between watering.• All-purpose garden fertilizer applied at the beginning and middle of the growing season is effective.• Growing garlic is also a way to prevent insect infestations in the garden.Harvest: • Garlic bulbs are ready to be harvested when you can feel the individual cloves in the bulb, and the leaves turn yellow or brown.• To harvest, carefully lift the bulbs with a spade or a garden fork.
