This grade of steel is hypoallergenic because it goes through a low carbon vacuum melting process. This process sucks out the nickel from the metal. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. Please note: this process cannot remove all the nickel and a very small amount of people have reactions to 316LVM surgical steel.
