They have a flare and an o-ring to hold them in place in your ear. 316LVM surgical steel is hypoallergenic because it goes through a low carbon vacuum melting process. This process sucks out the nickel from the metal. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. Please note: this process cannot remove all the nickel and a very small amount of people have reactions to 316LVM surgical steel. If this is you, we recommend checking out our implant grade titanium plugs and tunnels - we have options in blackline or anodized titanium that won't irritate any metal allergies. The charm is a metal alloy, which is ideal for casting and makes them perfect for jewelry with fine details. Many people have sensitivities to these alloys and may react. Metal Alloys with a PVD coating can help negate this reaction, but they may still irritate those with the strongest sensitivities.  To avoid turning green, metal alloy jewelry we recommend cleaning often and not wearing in moist/sweaty places.
