This nose bone is brass and 316LVM surgical steel, so it's hypoallergenic! 316LVM surgical steel goes through a process called low carbon vacuum melting. The process sucks the nickel out of the steel. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. This process cannot remove 100% of nickel. As a result, a small number of people react to it. We recommend our BioPlast, anodized, blackline, or untreated titanium body jewelry if this is a concern for you. Brass is not recommended for those with metal allergies. The opal is lab-grown. Lab-grown opals are great for body jewelry because they are more durable than natural opal. Additionally, they can be autoclaved. Lab-grown opals are a more ethically sourced option than natural opal, as well. A bezel setting holds the 3mm opal securely.
