PVD is more durable and therefore longer lasting than traditional plating. However, this plating may irritate metal allergies. 316LVM surgical steel is hypoallergenic because it is low carbon vacuum melted. This process sucks out the nickel from the metal. Nickel is one of the most common causes of metal allergies. Please note that this process cannot remove all the nickel and a very small number of people have reactions to 316LVM surgical steel.
