Iceland Poppy is an easy to grow plant that can be grown indoors or out in the garden. Feed regularly and nip out the first buds to force plants to grow bigger and produce better flowers. The large, cup shaped blooms have a texture like crepe paper and appear in late spring to early summer. Poppies make excellent cut flowers. Pick flowers early, just as the buds start to open, and dip stem ends in boiling water before arranging. Iceland Poppies are not only attractive for the flower garden, when planted in the perennial border it also attracts birds, bees and butterflies.
